S. Korea Pres., Ukraine Envoy Discuss Russia-NK Military Ties

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) TOKYO, Nov 27 (KUNA) -- South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol and a Ukrainian delegation led by Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov on Wednesday discussed joint responses to security threats amid growing military cooperation between Russia and North Korea, Yonhap News Agency reported, citing Yoon's office.
"Both sides agreed to continue sharing information on North Korea's troop deployment to Russia and on weapons and technology transfers between Russia and North Korea, while working together with allied nations," the office said in a release.
During the meeting, Yoon emphasized South Korea's commitment to discussing "practical response measures" with Ukraine to counter the security threats posed by the growing military ties between Moscow and Pyongyang and coordinate closely with the US.
The Ukraine delegation held separate talks with National Security Adviser Shin Won-sik and Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun following their meeting with Yoon to share intelligence on North Korean troops deployed to Russia and expressed hopes for deepening future cooperation with South Korea, according to the office.
Last Friday, Shin revealed that Russia has provided North Korea with anti-air missiles and air defense equipment in exchange for its troop deployment in support of Moscow's war in Ukraine. (end)
