TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, November 7. Uzbekistan
Railways and Kazakhstan Railways have woven a tapestry of
collaboration, stitching together competitive tariffs to lure in a
bounty of cargo flows, Trend reports.
The announcement comes after a meeting between Zufar Narzullaev,
Chairman of the Uzbekistan Railways Board, and Nurlan Sauranbaev,
Chairman of the Kazakhstan Railways Board, during the 81st session
of the Council on Railway transport of the Commonwealth of
Independent States.
During the meeting, the parties put their heads together to hash
out the digitalization and transformation processes between the two
countries. In this vein, the two sides discussed joint efforts to
introduce digital technologies and improve the efficiency of the
railway industry.
Both parties also engaged in discussions aimed at amplifying
transit freight traffic and innovating international transport
corridors.
The good news is that Uzbekistan's foreign trade turnover with
Kazakhstan reached $3 billion from January through September
2024 is 6.6 percent less than in the same period last year
($3.2 billion in January-September 2023), and Kazakhstan has found
itself among the cream of the crop, landing in the top five largest
trading partners of Uzbekistan when it comes to trade turnover
during the specified period.
