Kazakhstan, France Seal Strategic Partnership, Forge $2.2B In New Agreements


(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) ASTANA, Kazakhstan, November 5. Presidents Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan and Emmanuel macron of France signed a Joint Declaration to reinforce their strategic partnership, Trend reports.

The ceremony, held in Paris, featured a series of key agreements aimed at bolstering trade, cooperation, and security between Kazakhstan and France. Among the notable documents signed in the presence of both leaders were:

- Kazakhstan-France Readmission Agreement: An intergovernmental accord to facilitate the return of nationals in alignment with international norms.
- Kazakhstan-France Strategic Partnership Roadmap on Critical Resources and Materials: Outlining cooperative measures to secure and develop key resources.
- Partnership Agreement between Samruk-Kazyna and Société Générale**: Establishing a strategic cooperation framework between Kazakhstan's sovereign wealth fund and the French banking group.
- Strategic Cooperation Agreement on Six-Axle Electric Locomotives: A partnership between Kazakhstan Temir Zholy and Alstom Transport SA to enhance Kazakhstan's rail infrastructure.
- Protocol on Archaeological Cooperation: A collaboration between the A.H. Margulan Institute of Archaeology and France's INRAP to advance archaeological research and preservation efforts.

As such, this state visit by President Tokayev led to the signing of a total of 36 agreements valued at $2.2 billion. These included one intergovernmental agreement, 21 interdepartmental accords, and 14 commercial agreements, spanning industries such as transportation, finance, energy, and cultural exchange.
