BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 5. Azerbaijan is a
nation of coexistence and cultural diversity, said Grand Mufti of
Egypt, Nazir Mohamed Ayyad, at the Global Summit of World Religious
Leaders in Baku today, Trend
reports .
The summit, themed "World Religions for a Green Planet," was
held in conjunction with the 29th session of the conference of the
Parties to the United Nations Framework convention on Climate
Change (COP29).
Ayyad emphasized the value of coordinated efforts to combat
climate change and expressed gratitude for holding such an
important event in Azerbaijan, a country known for its tolerance
and cultural variety.
"Religions, based on their sacred teachings and history, call
for peace and tranquility, not war and terror. Religions are
against the clash of civilizations. Erroneous theories lead to
wars, discrimination, and hatred.
We, in turn, advocate for strengthening justice. Our main task
is to free oppressed nations from tyranny, calling for justice," he
said.
The Grand Mufti also urged representatives of all religions to
unite and strengthen cooperation, stressing that this collective
effort would be crucial in achieving their shared goals swiftly and
effectively.
To note, a Global Summit of Religious Leaders is being held as
part of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations
Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) by the Ministry of
