Mastercard Aims To Boost NFC Transactions Across Azerbaijan (Exclusive)


(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 26. Mastercard Azerbaijan is focused on expanding its digital presence in the industry as 2024 draws to a close and it looks ahead to 2025, the regional manager for Mastercard in Azerbaijan, Emil Zeynalov, said in an interview with Trend .

"We anticipate seeing a continued rise in contactless payments, with a goal to increase NFC transactions to over 40 percent of all domestic purchase payments by mid-2025. Additionally, our consulting team will be pivotal in driving digital innovation and supporting the development of a cashless economy in Azerbaijan. This initiative aligns with our broader strategy to foster a more connected, efficient, and inclusive financial system across the region," he said.

Zeynalov also mentioned that Mastercard has expanded its office space, reflecting its growth and commitment to the Azerbaijani market.

"We are currently in the process of establishing a local advisory team to support our new campaigns aimed at enhancing customer engagement and digital innovation. These efforts are in line with our overall strategy to create impactful experiences for our users and contribute to a more inclusive financial ecosystem in Azerbaijan," he added.

Mastercard is an international payment system that provides financial services, including credit, debit, and prepaid cards, enabling cashless payments at millions of retail locations worldwide. It also offers technological solutions for banks, merchants, and other financial institutions.
