BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 22. A seminar titled
"Egypt-Azerbaijan: Efforts and prospects for cooperation to
strengthen relations between the countries" was held in the
Journalists' Syndicate located in Cairo, Trend reports via the
State Committee on Work with Diaspora.
The Ambassador of Azerbaijan Elkhan Polukhov, speaking at the
seminar attended by over 50 local journalists and researchers,
touched upon the Egyptian-Azerbaijani relations.
He noted that after mutual high-level visits, relations between
the states have strengthened even further.
The diplomat briefed on the preparatory work being carried out
for the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN
Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), which will take
place in Azerbaijan in November this year, and many projects that
will be implemented within the framework of this event.
Polukhov emphasized that COP27 was held in the Egyptian city of
Sharm El Sheikh in 2022, and he highly appreciated how Egypt shares
its experience with Azerbaijan.
The Chairman of the Egypt-Azerbaijan Friendship Society Seymur
Nasirov spoke about the history of Egypt-Azerbaijan relations.
Following him, international relations researcher Khada Jaber,
discussing women's rights in Azerbaijan, highlighted that a woman
is the chairperson of the Azerbaijani parliament and noted that
there are many female deputies in the parliament overall.
The seminar concluded with responses from Polukhov and other
speakers to numerous questions from local journalists and
researchers.
The event was also widely covered by the Egyptian media which
also highlighted the activities of the Egypt-Azerbaijan Friendship
Society.
The media pointed out that the main goal of society's activities
is to strengthen friendship between the peoples, develop
connections in the fields of science, culture, and religion, and
provide social services to students.
Additionally, the media emphasized that the society offers free
courses in Azerbaijani and English languages, Quran reading, Arabic
grammar, literature, public speaking, logic, calligraphy, carpet
weaving, and mugham art, with more than 600 young people from 57
countries receiving education on various subjects.
