US Cannot Misrepresent Human Rights Issues To Meddle In Internal Issues - Azerbaijani MFA

The United States has no right to distort and manipulate human rights concerns to intrude upon the internal matters of the nation, encompassing judicial proceedings and the autonomy of the judiciary, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Aykhan Hajizada said in a post on his X page, Trend reports.

The statement emphasized that fundamental rights and freedoms are fully ensured in Azerbaijan.

"Just as in the US, citizens serving sentences for criminal offenses are subject to the requirements of applicable laws regarding punishment without any discrimination," the publication reads.

Hajizada additionally remarked that appeals from certain foreign governments and politicians for the release of prisoners convicted under national statutes cast doubt on their dedication to the rule of law.
