Azerbaijan Undertakes Political Consultations With Belgium

BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 21. The regular
session of Political consultations between the Foreign Ministries
of Azerbaijan and Belgium has been held in Baku today, Trend
reports, referring to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.
It was noted that the delegation of the Republic of Azerbaijan
was headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Fariz Rzayev, while the
delegation of Belgium was headed by Director General for Bilateral
Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belgium Jeroen
Cooreman.
In the course of consultations, the sides discussed ties between
Azerbaijan and Belgium in the political sphere, emphasizing the
importance of mutual visits and meetings within the framework of
international events to maintain constant political dialogue.
To develop ties in the economic sphere, the parties emphasized
the importance of increasing trade turnover, using cooperation
opportunities in the fields of energy, transport, and high
technologies, and discussed strategic energy and transport projects
implemented on the initiative and with the participation of our
country.
Additionally, it was noted that increasing exchanges in such
fields as culture and education will be effective in the
development of ties.
The meeting exchanged views on cooperation within international
organizations, preparations for the 29th session of the Conference
of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change
(COP29), which Azerbaijan will host this year in November, and the
work done.
Regional issues were also the focus of consultations. The
Belgian side was provided with information on the situation in the
region in the post-conflict period, the process of normalization of
Azerbaijani-Armenian relations, steps taken by Azerbaijan towards
establishing lasting peace in the region, the problem of mines in
the territories liberated from occupation, as well as large-scale
reconstruction and construction works carried out there.
The parties exchanged views on international agenda issues, as
well as other topics of joint interest.
