Representative of State of Palestine denounces escalating violence inflicted upon Palestinian population

(MENAFN) In a powerful speech delivered at the United Nations' First Committee on Disarmament and International Security, Riyad Mansour, the representative of the State of Palestine, denounced the escalating violence inflicted upon the Palestinian population. He claimed that nations supplying arms to the Israeli military bear a degree of complicity in what he described as genocidal acts against Palestinians. Mansour called for a moral obligation among states and international entities to cease all support for the occupying power and to stop supplying weapons and ammunition that exacerbate the ongoing conflict.

Mansour detailed the immense suffering that has engulfed Palestinian communities over the past year, painting a stark picture of despair resulting from relentless military actions by Israel. He specifically addressed the dire situation in Gaza, where the deployment of illegal and devastating weapons has led to a tragic loss of civilian life, including among the most vulnerable populations, such as women and children. He poignantly highlighted that the Israeli military's bombardments have not spared hospitals or even newborns, indicating a troubling disregard for fundamental humanitarian standards.

Reinforcing Mansour's message, Turkey's representative also expressed grave concern, stating that all residents of Gaza are being subjected to indiscriminate violence by Israeli forces. He reported alarming figures, suggesting that around 42,000 Palestinians, primarily women and children, have perished due to the ongoing hostilities. Furthermore, he warned that the implications of this conflict extend beyond the immediate region, as the potential for wider regional unrest has become an unsettling reality.

Both representatives' remarks reflect an urgent international appeal for accountability and an increased commitment to uphold international law, particularly in protecting civilian lives amid this escalating violence. The international community is now called upon to take significant measures to avert further bloodshed and to actively work towards establishing peace and justice for the Palestinian people.
