BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 22. Azerbaijan and
Uzbekistan have opportunities to expand joint activities in third
countries, Azerbaijani Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov said at an
Uzbek-Azerbaijani business forum in Tashkent, Trend reports.
“Opportunities to expand joint activities of entrepreneurs exist
not only in Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan but also in third countries,”
he stated.
The minister recalled that a week ago, representatives of
relevant ministries and companies of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan made
a joint trip to Afghanistan.
“This direction seems promising for joint activity and it is not
the only jurisdiction in which both countries can successfully work
and realize their plans,” he stressed.
In addition, Jabbarov stated that the anticipated outcomes are
being produced by the previously defined transportation and
logistics cooperation.
“There is a stable growth of cargo transportation in both
directions, with an annual increase of about 20–30 percent,”
Jabbarov added.
The minister drove home the importance of the meetings and
events held in this context.
To note, currently, Uzbekistan is playing host to a whopping 236
enterprises with Azerbaijani capital. Among them, there are 62
joint ventures and a staggering 174 enterprises that are completely
owned by foreigners. Furthermore, Azerbaijan is a hotbed for 70
Uzbek companies that are hitting the ground running.
Overall, the trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan
exceeded $118.2 million from January through July 2024.
