Internet Slowdown Unveiled: Government's New Firewall Causing Widespread Disruption

(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) The recent slowdown and occasional shutdowns of the internet and social media in the country have raised significant concerns, particularly among business professionals. The root cause of these disruptions has now been revealed: the implementation of a new experimental firewall system.

According to government officials, the firewall, which is being trialed, has been responsible for the reduced internet speeds and social media accessibility. The government has invested over 30 billion rupees in its development and installation, to enhance cybersecurity and control online content.

The installation process for this firewall began in January this year and includes both procurement and setup phases. The system is expected to be fully operational within a few weeks, after which internet traffic and speeds are anticipated to return to normal levels.

One of the key features of this firewall is its Deep Packet Inspection capability. This advanced technology filters data across seven layers and can identify and block sources of propaganda and fake news on social media. Additionally, it can block specific user IDs associated with such content.

Officials have emphasized that the firewall's primary objective is to combat electronic crimes and manage social media influencers who are perceived by the government as spreading misinformation. Influencers and content deemed harmful will be blocked as part of this initiative.

As the trial period progresses, the government aims to strike a balance between maintaining online security and minimizing disruptions to internet users.
