About you
As our Publications Manager , you'll have significant editing experience, preferably in a healthcare, medical or scientific environment, with the ability to determine quality, evidence-based sources and their use to support clinical decision-making. Your exceptional oral and written communication skills, attention to detail and accuracy, along with you highly developed interpersonal skills, will ensure you can effectively liaise and communicate with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to meet content and production deadlines.
To thrive in this role, you'll have:
an undergraduate degree in communications, editing or a related field with extensive experience managing production and editorial processes for multiple titles, and medical editing experience as an editor in a scholarly publishing environment
demonstrated knowledge and experience with permissions and copyright
comprehension of technical and medical literature; knowledge of medical terminology and clinical guidelines
business level skills in Microsoft Office applications, with knowledge of publishing software
About the opportunity
Reporting to the Head of Marketing and Commercial, you'll lead a team of high performing editors to provide editorial support to the RACGP in the production of the Australian Journal of General Practice (AJGP), check, standards, guidelines and other member resources. You'll oversee the strategic development and planning of content, ensuring the timely production of these publications to specified timelines and in line with correct policy and procedure, brand voice and house style, while editing to a high standard. In addition, you'll:
plan, develop, edit and fact-check medical content in check to ensure it is clinically appropriate, relevant and confirms to high editorial and ethical standards
manage copyright assignments and associated paperwork, oversee author review, approvals and corrections for AJGP and check ensuring permissions for all tables, figures, illustrations, photographs and excerpts are received and documented prior to publication
ensure materials in core publications and RACGP products comply with copyright and other relevant laws and regulations; including Committee of Publications Ethics (COPE) and Medicines Australia Code of Conduct.
provide publishing advice to internal stakeholders to assist in the development of RACGP products according to RACGP standards.
ensure efficiency, quality and accuracy in publication of RACGP products through advising and mentoring of editorial staff.
