Police Foil Major Heroin Smuggling Operation In Khyber District


(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) In Tehsil Jamrud of Khyber District, police conducted a significant operation against inter-provincial drug smugglers based on intelligence. An attempt to smuggle a large consignment of heroin was thwarted, with 67 kg of heroin worth billions of rupees recovered from the hidden compartments of a truck.

According to details, under the leadership of SHO Jamrud Adnan Afridi, in-charge Bakht Munir, the operation was carried out at the TakhtaBaik check post. The team seized a total of 67 kg of heroin from the secret compartments of a truck entering Khyber District from Quetta. The value of the seized drugs in the international market is estimated to be 36 billion rupees. The suspects involved have been arrested and transferred to custody.

The individuals arrested belong to an organized drug-trafficking group that smuggles drugs from Afghanistan to Quetta and supplies them to other parts of the country. The suspects have smuggled heroin twice before. Further investigation will expose the extent of their network.

DPO Khyber Salim Abbas Kalachi stated that efforts to cleanse society from the scourge of drugs and protect the young generation from its harmful effects will continue. The perimeter against drug dealers, smugglers, and traffickers will be tightened throughout the district. Successful actions are being taken against drug dealers and smugglers daily across the district.
