Uzbekistan Ready To Collaborate With Afghanistan In Oil, Gas Processing


(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, May 25. Uzbekistan'smining companies proposed collaboration with Afghan manufacturingfirms to establish large-scale infrastructure for oil and gasprocessing within Afghanistan, Trend reports.

This was announced during a meeting between Afghanistan's ActingMinister of Mines and Petroleum, sheikh al-Hadith ShahabuddinDelawar with Special Representative of Uzbekistan's presidentEsmatullah Ergashev and Uzbekistan's Minister of transport IlkhomMakhkamov.

During the meeting, the Uzbek side expressed interest inAfghanistan's oil, gas, and coal mining projects and in investingin Afghanistan's mineral and hydrocarbon resources. They soughtcollaboration with the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum tofacilitate investment opportunities.

Afghanistan's acting minister of mines and petroleum notedUzbekistan's interest in the country's mineral resources andemphasized the ministry's readiness to collaborate. Both partiesagreed to establish joint working committees to expedite practicalinitiatives, signaling a commitment to strengthen economiccooperation between the two nations.

In addition, Uzbekistan noted their goal for developingbilateral relations, particularly through expanding commercial andeconomic ventures between both countries.

Meanwhile, Uzbekistan's trade turnover volume with Afghanistanreached $308.6 million from January through April 2024. The exportsto Afghanistan amounted to $301.4 million, while the imports toUzbekistan totaled $7.1 million during this period.
