Baku Hosts Workshop On Preparation Of Transparency Reports (PHOTO)

(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 13. A training workshopon building confidence and capacity in the preparation of BiennialTransparency Reports within Azerbaijan's chairmanship at COP29 hasopened in Baku, Trend reports.
The workshop will hear speeches from the chief negotiator ofCOP29, Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Yalchin Rafiyev,Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of AzerbaijanUmayra Taghiyeva, Director of the UN Climate Secretariat ReportingOffice Donald Cooper, UNDP portfolio coordinator on climate changein the Europe and Central Asia region Nuri Ozbagdatli, andothers.
To note, this November, Azerbaijan will host COP29. The COP28plenary meeting in Dubai on December 11 last year made thisdecision. Baku will become the world's center, receiving about70–80,000 foreign guests.
The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change is anagreement signed at the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro in June 1992to prevent dangerous human interference with the climate system Conference of the Parties-is the highest legislative bodyoverseeing the implementation of the Framework Convention onClimate Change. There are 198 countries that are parties to theConvention. The COP takes place annually, unless the parties agreeotherwise. The first COP event took place in March 1995 inGermany's Berlin, and its secretariat is located in Bonn.
