One Of Iran's Border Crossings With Afghanistan Remains Closed


(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 27. Mahiroudborder-customs checkpoint in South Khorasan province innortheastern Iran has been closed, the statement of Iran's CustomsAdministration said, Trend reports.

Additionally, it is reported that the passage of trucks throughthe Mahiroud border customs checkpoint has been suspended.

The Customs Administration noted that due to the greatimportance of the border-customs point for transit transportation,Iran's Foreign Ministry and the leadership of South KhorasanProvince are working to reactivate the point on the border.

To note, Afghanistan arrested six Iranian border guards on April25, alleging that they had illegally crossed into their country'sterritory. A few hours later, on the same day, the Iranian borderguards were released under an agreement between the two sides.
