Important work wascarried out and significant results were achieved during and afterlocal anti-terrorist measures carried out by the Azerbaijani ArmedForces in Karabakh on September 19, 2023, the Head of AzerbaijaniState Security Service, Colonel General Ali Naghiyev said in anarticle published in the local "Respublika" newspaper, Trend reports.
He noted that the employees of the State Security Service playedan undeniable role in preventing possible provocative andsubversive activities that the adversary seeks to carry out on allfronts, as well as threats in the field of information security andcybersecurity, providing the Azerbaijani Army with operational andcounterintelligence information during the second Karabakh war,when under the decisive command of the victorious SupremeCommander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, a historic victory wasachieved.
"Thus, illegal Armenian armed formations in Karabakh weredisarmed, and through operational-search measures carried out byus, the whereabouts of the 'leaders' of the so-called regime wereidentified, after which they were arrested and brought to criminalresponsibility.
As another manifestation of high appreciation for the activitiesof security agencies by the President of the Republic of AzerbaijanIlham Aliyev for the personal courage and heroism displayed duringand after the military operations conducted in 2020 and 2023, agroup of State Security Service employees was awarded highhonors.
With great pride, we note that today, among the ranks of theState Security Service, there are seven heroes of the secondKarabakh war. For the selflessness demonstrated in the mentionedcombat actions, seven employees of the State Security Service wereawarded the Order of Zafar, 14 - the Order of Karabakh, as well asa significant number of employees - with other orders and medals,"Naghiyev added.
To note, in order to ensure the provisions of the TrilateralStatement [signed by Azerbaijani, Armenian and Russian leadersfollowing the second Karabakh war], to stop large-scaleprovocations in the Karabakh economic region, to disarm andwithdraw formations of the Armenian armed forces from theterritories of Azerbaijan, to neutralize their militaryinfrastructure, to ensure the safety of the peaceful populationreturning to the territories liberated from occupation, civilservants involved in construction and reconstruction work, andAzerbaijan's military personnel, as well as to restore theconstitutional order of the Republic of Azerbaijan, anti-terroristmeasures have been conducted in the region on September 19-20,2023.
As a result of anti-terrorist measures, Azerbaijan restoredsovereignty and constitutional order in these territories, and theformations of the Armenian armed forces located in the Karabakhregion of the Republic of Azerbaijan were dissolved and withdrawnfrom the territory of Azerbaijan.
