Jordan's Media And Information Literacy Alliance Launched

Amman, Aug. 23 (Petra) -Jordan media Institute (JMI) launched the 30-expert Media and Information Literacy Alliance (MILA), in cooperation with UNEoffice in Jordan, aimed to enhancing cooperation among media literacy leaders, to help society safely deal with information.
In a statement Wednesday, the institute said the MILA seeks to implement its goals by enhancing inter-worker cooperation in media education programs, and exchange knowledge and expertise.
The institute added that the MILA is interested in developing educational curricula and training programs in media education, ensuring its conformity with international standards and keeping pace with the "remarkable" technological development.
The alliance also seeks to build a "strong" network of local and international partners and institutions interested in media and informational education field, the statement said.
The institute noted the alliance eyes to organize activities to exchange ideas and knowledge and provide "continuous" learning opportunities for its members, and create a common umbrella for local and international institutions and experts working in this field, coordinate related efforts and create a "unified" database for the variinstitutions working in Jordan's media and information literacy sector.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, JMI Dean, Mirna Abu Zaid, said this collaborative effort between the JMI and UNEreflects Jordan's commitment to promoting media and information literacy, and enabling citizens to make "informed" choices and participate "actively and strongly" in the "accelerating" digital landscape.
