Katara Summer Camp Concludes On Exciting Note

Doha, Qatar: The Cultural Village Foundation, Katara, concluded its Summer Camp, which ran from July 23 to August 15.

It was organised together with the Ministry of the Interior, represented by the General Administration of Civil Defence, the General Administration for Drug Control, the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, the Qatar Red Crescent, the Al Jazeera media Institute, the Nomas Center, and the Shooting Club.

This is in addition to an active contribution to a number of facilities and centers of the Katara Cultural Village, which are the Al Thuraya Planetarium, the Al Qannas Association and the Poetry Council.

Director of the Public Relations and Communication Department, Salem Mabkhout Al Marri said:“We thank all the parties that participated with us, and through this constructive cooperation we were able to present a distinguished programme that included many activities that focused on the educational, cultural and recreational aspects as well, which directly contributed to achieving the desired goals of organizing the camp.”

“The times the children spent in the camp were sufficient for discovery and knowledge, as the child leaves the school or home framework to participate with his peers in various activities that add to his knowledge and skills, and then he discovers his hobbies and skills within the activities that he practiced throughout the camp period, and thus he can develop in them later.”

He pointed out that the camp“promoted many values, most notably the national identity, through heritage activities related to the customs of the people of Qatar and the Qatari maritime heritage, or with regard to hunting and falconry, in addition to the value of friendship, cooperation and discipline. Participants who interacted greatly with the activities of the camp and praised them.”

Moreover, he stressed that the next edition of the camp will include more activities and events that the participants will be pleased with.

It is noteworthy that the participating parties in the camp presented many workshops, where the participation of the General Directorate of Civil Defence was within the Safe Summer 2023 initiative or accidents in the summer, which it is carrying out within its awareness plan for this year.

In addition to awareness workshops that contributed to educating children and preparing a responsible and aware generation capable of dealing with risks, the participation of the Nomas Center in several workshops represented in the etiquette of the Majlis, Al Ardah, through Qatari trainers. These activities are related to the heritage, customs and traditions of the people of Qatar.

The Shooting Club allocated a fully equipped caravan for training in air rifle shooting with specialised trainers. The Al Jazeera Media Institute presented eight workshops within the initiative of Al Jazeera Ambassadors. And the Qatar Red Crescent provided training workshops with the aim of introducing the basics of first aid and sound health rules, which contribute to building the capacities of young people.

The camp administration dedicated field visits to the most important facilities of Katara, including the Al Mahamil Museum, where the participants learned about Qatar's ancient marine heritage from the existing bearings and information about hunting and diving trips, and a visit to the Al Qannas Association, in which they learned about Qatar's heritage in hunting and falconry, and a visit to the Al Thuraya Planetarium to learn about information about space, the universe and the stars.
