Water Minister Inaugurates Fidan Dam In Wadi Araba

(MENAFN- Jordan Times) AMMAN - Water Minister Mohammad Najjar on Thursday inaugurated Fidan Dam in Wadi Araba.

At its current capacity of 2.1 million cubic metres (mcm), the dam project aims to provide irrigation water, help recharge groundwater and establish local agricultural projects.

Najjar added that the Water Authority of Jordan (WAJ) seeks to expand water harvesting in the Kingdom, increase dams' total capacity and maximise floodwater benefits.

He expressed appreciation for the financing support from Saudi Arabia, according to a ministry statement.

The dam contributes to expanding green areas and providing jobs for locals, mainly farmers and livestock breeders, Najjar added.

WAJ Secretary-General Manar Mahasneh said that the dam aims to improve local residents' living conditions and attract more investments in the area.
