(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) MANAMA, July 29 (KUNA) -- Bahrain's Foreign Minister Dr. Abdullatif Al-Zayani on Saturday hailed his country's achievements and record in respecting human rights, protecting human dignity and combating trafficking in persons.
Bahrain is a model for respecting human rights and dignity, in accordance with the Constitution, national legislations as well as international conventions and covenants, including seven of the nine main human rights instruments, the Bahrain News Agency (BNA) quoted Dr. Al-Zayani as saying in a statement on the occasion of the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons.
The Day will be observed on July 30 under the theme "Reach every victim of trafficking, leave no one behind".
He expressed pride in Bahrain's success in maintaining "Tier 1" status for the sixth consecutive year in the United States Department of State's 2023 Trafficking in Persons (TIP) Report, which is the highest annual international classification in this field.
This advanced status reflects Bahrain's strides in protecting and promoting human rights under Law No. (1) of 2008 regarding combating trafficking in persons, and other legislative measures, in line with the Government program and the National Human Rights Plan (2022-2026).
He commended the efforts of the National Commission for Combating Trafficking in Persons in raising awareness and enforcing the law. (end)
