National Center for Mental Health: 20 percent of Jordanians struggle with depression


(MENAFN) Hospital Director at the National Centre for Mental health Khaled Al Hadidi has shown in the latest report that 20 percent of Jordanian people struggle with depression and social anxiety.

Hadidi noted that during 2022, the center has received more than 23,000 patients.
2,481 patients out of all the ones who went to the clinic, were accepted for treatment because of their health setback.

Drug rehab unit in the center met 4,506 patients last year, both in the inpatient section of the department that has 46 beds, in addition to the outpatient psychotherapy section, that has five clinics.

The Ministry of Health offers psychiatric assistance via 52 clinics spread between public hospitals, inclusive health centers, family protection departments, reform and rehab centers, and also outpatient clinics are in all cities of Jordan.

Hadidi confirmed that Jordanians with national ID numbers pay no charges when getting therapy at the center. The manager added that psychiatric prescriptions are accessible via the Ministry of Health all over the year.
