Qatar Hosts Meeting Of Heads Of GCC Government Agencies Concerned With Human Rights
(MENAFN- Gulf Times) The State of Qatar hosted on Wednesday the 14th meeting of the heads of government agencies concerned with human rights in the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC). The Head of the International Affairs Department at the Foreign Ministry of Oman, Ambassador sheikh Humaid Ali Alma'ani, chaired the meeting.
At the outset of the meeting, HE Director of Human Rights Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Turki bin Abdullah Al Mahmoud welcomed the heads of government agencies concerned with human rights in the GCC countries to the State of Qatar.
The meeting discussed a number of topics on the agenda, most notably the GCC external action plan in the field of human rights in Geneva, the unified rules for prevention of domestic violence, exploitation and abuse, as well as a proposal for a memorandum of understanding between the General Secretariat and the Arab Network for National Human Rights Institutions.
The meeting reflected the GCC countries' belief in the importance of human rights, their promotion and development, and continuous coordination in all fields.
