(MENAFN) The inaugural session of the strategic council for the transformation of Iran's mining sector, organized by the Ministry of Industry, Mining, and Trade, took place as reported by IRNA. Led by Mehdi Niazi, the acting minister of industry, mining, and trade, the meeting witnessed the presence of high-ranking officials from both public and private entities engaged in the mining industry.
Among the notable attendees were Reza Mohtashamipour, Deputy Industry Minister for the Mining Sector; Alireza Shahidi, Head of Geological Survey and Mineral Exploration of Iran; Amir Khoramishad, Head of the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation (IMIDRO); Vajihollah Jafari, Senior Advisor to the Industry, Mining, and Trade Minister; Reza Bastami, Head of the Iranian Mining Engineering Organization; and Mohammadreza Behraman, Head of the Iranian Mining House.
Acting Minister Niazi outlined the council's primary objectives, which encompass policy-making in the mining sector, devising strategies to enhance the role of mining in the national economy, addressing any existing gaps in mining operations, expanding land exploration initiatives, bolstering mining infrastructure, overseeing significant national mining projects, and reviewing and updating regulations and laws governing the mining sector.
The establishment of this strategic council signifies the government's commitment to fostering the growth and development of the mining industry in Iran. By bringing together key stakeholders and experts in the field, the council aims to formulate effective policies and strategies that will contribute to the sector's advancement and integration into the broader economy.
