Thiruvananthapuram, May 25 (KNN) Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan informed on Wednesday that the state government is nearing completion of a bill about protection of domestic workers' rights.

Addressing the three-day International Labour Conclave, he said that the bill would be one of its kind in India.

The Conclave is being organised by the Labour Department in association with the State Planning Board.

Noting that the Government of India has introduced four new labour codes and draft rules appropriate for Kerala have already been prepared for discussion in the State Legislature, Chief Minister said workers' rights are part of Kerala's public discourse and "ensuring them is part of our legacy”.

"We will continue to uphold them," he said.

He highlighted the steps taken by the state in upholding the rights of workers and claimed that it has one of the best records in the global south in this regard.

Inaugurating the International Labour Conclave, the CM said Kerala has been exceptional in protecting and advancing workers' rights, which has been waning worldwide.
