Japan, UAE Agree On Further Cooperation In Various Fields


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) TOKYO, April 14 (KUNA) -- Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi and Minister of industry and Advanced technology of United Arab Emirates (UAE) Sultan Al-Jaber confirmed Friday that they will continue to work together under the Comprehensive and Strategic Partnership Initiative, Japan's Foreign Ministry said.
At the outset of the meeting in Tokyo, Hayashi offered his congratulations on Al-Jaber's appointment as the 28th conference of the Parties (COP28) President-Designate, saying Japan attaches great importance to the strategic partnership with the UAE and look forward to cooperating in various fields, the ministry said in a statement.
In response, Al-Jaber, who also serves as UAE Special Envoy for Japan, expressed his renewed hopes for further strengthening of the bilateral relations with Japan, according to the statement.
As the UAE minister explained the status of preparations for COP28, Hayashi replied that Japan is fully committed to making its utmost contribution to the negotiations for achieving satisfactory outcomes of COP28.
In addition, the two ministers exchanged views on cooperation in the fields of defense and the situation in Ukraine, the ministry said. (end)
