Katara's Ramadan Activities Continue To Attract Crowds

Doha: The Cultural Village Foundation, Katara's Ramadan activities continue to draw a large number of audience.

On Monday, Katara General Manager, Prof. Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti inaugurated the exhibition“And to Parents in Kindness” in Hall No. 2 of Building 18.

The exhibition included about 22 paintings by nine artists: Hassan Bou Jasoum, Fatima Al Nuaimi, Amira Al Aji, Amira Radhi, Ammar Al Desouki, Hassan Manaser, Mazen Al Dahan, Diyar Al Asadi, and Mickey Diffas. All the paintings, in their various artistic styles, dealt with the theme of righteousness and kindness to parents.

Meanwhile, in celebration of the International Theatre Day, Katara organised a special celebration on the occasion which falls every year of March 27. In addition to a symposium on“Qatari Theater - Between Reality and Aspiration", with the participation of a number of artists and those interested in theatre, a theatrical play“Gypsies of the Sea” was also held at the Drama Theater.

The ceremony was attended H E Dr. Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kuwari, Minister of State and President of Qatar National Library; Dr. Ghanem bin Mubarak Al Ali, Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture for Cultural Affairs; Prof. Dr. Al Sulaiti, and a number of playwrights and the public.

At a symposium“Qatari Theater - Between Reality and Aspiration", Dr. Hassan Rashid, a theatre critic; Hamad Al Rumaihi, author and director; and Jassim Ahmed Al Ansari, actor and theatre director, recommended the need to expedite the formation of an association that brings together playwrights, including actors, authors and directors, to find solutions to the difficulties and challenges facing the Qatari theatre and limiting its launch.

The participants of the symposium also recommended return of theatre to schools and clubs, in addition to establishing a theatre for young amateurs to be a tributary to the theatrical movement.

Katara, in cooperation with the Teacher and Mother Center for Educational Consultations, also organised a series of educational and entertainment activities on honouring parents.

Maryam Al Shuraim, Director of the Center, said:“The center offers four workshops targeting children of all age groups, and in line with the atmosphere of this holy month, the theme of the workshops deals with parents and the importance of the family in the proper psychological formation of any child. The workshops present a group of distinguished competencies in this field on a voluntary basis, contributing to community service and raising children's awareness of the importance of the family and parents. We are ready to provide all consultations to all visitors at any time.”

On the other hand, the qualifying stage for the Katara Ramadan Chess Championship, which it organises in cooperation with the Qatar Chess Federation will begin on Thursday, March 30, in addition to the launch of the Katara Playstation Championship.

The number of participants has reached 200, and the participants have been divided into two groups, in which the participants will play within one group. The first-place winners in the two groups will face each other to determine the first and second places, while the second-place winners from the two groups will face each other to determine the third and fourth places. Prizes will be distributed to the first three places.

The preparations of the Saftan Katara Ramadan baskets have also begun, which seeks to provide humanitarian assistance to poor families and needy groups in society.
