Safadi Meets With Algerian, British Envoys

Amman, Mar. 19 (Petra)-Lower House Speaker, Ahmed Safadi, on Sunday met separately with ambassadors of Algeria to Jordan, Mohamed Sherif Kourta , and Britain, Bridget Brind, to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral relations, especially in parliamentary areas.
Safadi, on the occasion of end of Kourta's tenure, said Jordan and Algeria have 'deep-rooted and historic' relations, which always aim to serve the two countries' interests and central Arab issues, especially the Palestinian cause.
Bilateral relations, Safadi noted, have recently witnessed a 'remarkable' development following the summit meeting that brought together His Majesty King Abdullah II with Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
Safadi lauded Kourta's ' great' role during his term, which is reflected in his 'clear' efforts to enhance joint cooperation prospects in all fields.
For his part, the Algerian envoy said he was keen during his tenure to enhance joint cooperation to serve common interests.
During the meeting with Brind , Safadi affirmed 'deep-rooted' friendship between the two kingdoms, stressing the importance of joint cooperation and coordination, to achieve common interests, which would contribute to achieving the region's security and stability and advance support for Palestinian people's right to establish their independent state.
Safadi said the Kingdom, under His Majesty King Abdullah II's leadership, is taking 'confident' steps towards strengthening its political, administrative and economic system, adding that Jordan entered its bicentennial with a comprehensive national project that serves development goals.
Brind said her country is 'keen' to enhance joint cooperation prospects and views as 'important' Jordan's current modernization steps, pointing to Amman's 'remarkable' efforts made in the refugee file.
The diplomat also expressed her country's appreciation for Jordan's 'great' role under His Majesty King Abdullah II's leadership to achieve the region's security and stability.
