Iran's Minister visits Hormozgan Province to launch 10 major maritime projects


(MENAFN) Iran's Minister of Transport and Urban Development, Mehrdad Bazrpash, visited southern Hormozgan Province to inaugurate 10 major maritime projects worth approximately $99.886 million on Saturday. The inauguration ceremony of these projects was attended by high-ranking officials, including Ali-Akbar Safaei, the Head of the country's Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO), the Governor of Hormozgan Province Mehdi Dousti, some provincial officials, and MPs.

Out of the 10 projects, six were already operational, with a total investment of around USD44.93 million, while the executive operation of three projects, costing approximately USD50.532 million, also started. The newly inaugurated projects included a marine reference building, a new section of the third phase of Shahid Rajaei Port's development plan, and two suction machines with a total capacity of 300 tons per hour for loading and unloading of grains at this port.

One of the significant projects inaugurated by the minister was the Khamir multipurpose port, which is aimed at facilitating trade, enhancing the export of minerals, and boosting employment in the province. The investment in these projects is expected to contribute to the country's economic growth and provide job opportunities for the local population.

The Iranian government has been focusing on developing its maritime infrastructure to improve its international trade and economy. The inauguration of these projects highlights the country's efforts to enhance its ports and maritime facilities to increase its global competitiveness.
