AFG College With University Of Aberdeen Marks International Women's Day

Doha: AFG College with the University of Aberdeen in Qatar marked the International Women's Day celebrated annually on the eighth of March by holding its annual fifth conference under the theme“Embrace Equity”.
The conference brought together several speakers who are playing leading roles in different sectors, reflecting the leading role of women on our communities. The conference took place at the prestigious Le Royal Meridien Hotel in Doha under the distinguished patronage of H E Dr Sheikha Aisha bint Faleh Al Thani, Founder and Chairperson of Al Faleh Educational Holding, and attended by special guests and invitees.
The annual conference is part of AFG College commitment to social responsibility and community engagement, contributing to the prosperity of our country.
“Women continue to play leading and important roles in our communities. In our region, women occupy prominent positions and contribute to our community welfare as well as economic prosperity. We are honored to listen to inspiring speeches by leading women who shed light on pertinent issues around the need for embracing equity. This is in line with Qatar's national vision to empower women and support their leading roles,” said Dr Sheikha Aisha bint Faleh Al Thani, Founder and Chairperson of Al Faleh Educational Holding.
The annual conference featured inspiring keynote speakers including Iman Ereiqat, Chief of Mission at International Organization for Migration, Sheikha Alanoud bint Hamad Al Thani, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Qatar Financial Centre and Chief Business Officer of Qatar Financial Centre, as well as Amal Ameen, a Qatari entrepreneur and a visual artist, interior designer and fashion executive.
The event included a panel discussion for representatives of diplomatic delegations. It included dormer US ambassador Patricia Haslach; Graciela Gomez Former Mexican Ambassador to Qatar, and Deputy Head of Mission of France Marie-Gaelle Robles. The panel discussed women's role in complex diplomatic negotiations and best practices on promoting gender equality.
