Int'l Coalition Reaffirms Commitment To Complete Defeat Of IS
(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) WASHINGTON, March 2 (KUNA) - The Global Coalition to Defeat IS (Daesh) remains committed to confronting and defeating the 'terrorist organization' in Africa and everywhere in the world, said a statement by the coalition states members.
After a meeting over the past two days in Niamey, Niger, the global coalition co-chaired by Italy, Morocco, Niger, and the United States, affirmed that Africa Focus Group is African member-led and represents a collaborative, civilian-focused counterterrorism effort intended to enhance the counterterrorism capabilities of African members.
The meeting endorsed the African Focus Group Action Plan, which committed the Coalition to enhance border security, gather information on known and suspected terrorists, protect and use battlefield evidence, combat Daesh propaganda and recruitment, and combat terrorist financing.
Up to 38 coalition members and observers participated in the two-day Africa Focus Group meeting that highlighted various counter-Daesh initiatives on the continent. (end)
