Mormon TikTok influencer charged with domestic violence, child abuse
(MENAFN) Mormon influencer Taylor Frankie Paul, known for her viral content on TikTok, has been charged with domestic violence and child abuse. Court records from Salt Lake County show that Paul has been charged with two felony counts of domestic violence, one felony count of aggravated assault, and one misdemeanor count each of child abuse and criminal mischief. The charges stem from a domestic violence incident that took place on February 17th in Herriman, Utah, where Paul was arrested by local police.
According to a probable cause statement, Paul and her boyfriend were having an argument that escalated when he tried to leave. Paul allegedly hit him and threw heavy metal chairs at him. She also hit her own 5-year-old daughter with one of the chairs, causing a painful bump on the child's head. Another 2-year-old child was in the home at the time of the incident.
Police reviewed video footage of the incident, which allegedly showed Paul throwing barstools and hitting her boyfriend and daughter with them. The video also reportedly showed Paul kicking her boyfriend, putting him in a chokehold, and hitting him multiple times. Her boyfriend also claimed that she threw her phone and a wooden playset at him, with the playset hitting his car and damaging the door.
Responding officers alleged in the probable cause statement that they witnessed Paul hitting her boyfriend and that she admitted to throwing the chairs and playset. The Herriman Police Department has stated that Paul's status as a social media influencer has no impact on the investigation or outcome of the case.
Paul's charges include felony counts of domestic violence in the presence of a child and aggravated assault, as well as misdemeanor counts of child abuse and criminal mischief. The case is being investigated thoroughly, in accordance with state law and established criminal justice best practices to protect victims and ensure accountability.
