Doha: The Ministry of Labor (MoL) has announced the launch of an electronic system, based on an innovative Artificial Intelligence (AI) algorithm; aiming to develop data and statistics related to the nationalization program in the private sector, in partnership with the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), Microsoft, and PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Middle East in Qatar.

The new system is part of the endeavors of the Technical Office and the Digital Transformation Unit at MoL to digitize and transform services and create solutions through the use of digital cloud software development, and other emerging technologies such as AI and machine learning, to provide customers and stakeholders with a seamless user experience.

The new algorithm provides information, data, and statistics for nationalization in private sector establishments, according to the nature of the establishment's activity, capital, number of employees, and average salaries, so that the data has interactive nature that calculates the nationalization percentages in a tailored way for each company.

The Minister of Labor HE Dr. Ali bin Samikh Al Marri awarded a certificate of appreciation to Salim Al Barami, Strategic Planning Advisor and Director of the Digital Transformation Unit in the Minister's Office and the creator of the new algorithm; whose achievement was not limited to creating the algorithm, but also making sure that the Ministry of Labor is a trailblazer in the field of cloud computing in Qatar, in addition to establishing successful partnerships with prestigious organizations such as ESCWA, PwC, and Microsoft.

For his part, Al Barami confirmed that the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) has supported MoL on tasks related to creating labor market analytics, detecting the fourth industrial revolution skills in Qatar, and developing the foundation of a state-of-the-art matching platform for nationals based on ESCWA's Skills Monitor. Now, ESCWA and the Ministry of Labour are creating a model that can optimize the number of national employees per firm. The model is built on a scientific model using state-of-the-art Artificial Intelligence.

ESCWA Executive Secretary Dr. Rola Dashti said: 'ESCWA is proud to support the Ministry of Labour in building an automated model that uses artificial intelligence to detect the level of Qatarization in private sector firms. The model will be built using the Ministry's depository of employee structure in the Qatari Private sector.'
