Netherlands eliminates US from World Cup with 3-1 victory


(MENAFN) The Netherlands overcame the United States 3-1 on Saturday to advance as the first team to the quarterfinals of the FIFA World Cup.

But the rise was swiftly put an end to in the Netherlands.

In the 81st minute, Blind switched roles for Dumfries, finding him unmarked at the back post with a precise cross for an easy finish.

The Netherlands is going to play against Argentina in the quarterfinals.

The US’ elimination indicates that there is currently no CONCACAF team left in Qatar, with Canada, Mexico, as well as Costa Rica all have been knocked out.
