(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ROME, Dec 3 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Ambassador in Rome Nasser Al-Qahtani has affirmed that Kuwait's active participation in the Rome MED - Mediterranean Dialogues in Rome (Med 2022) showed its keenness on energy security and advancing global economic growth.
This came in a statement made by Al-Qahtani to KUNA on Saturday as he represented Kuwait to the eighth edition of Rome MED - Mediterranean Dialogues organized by Italy.
The participation of CEO of Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) Sheikh Nawaf Saud Nasser Al-Sabah in a dialogue on a 'broader example for energy security' upon an invitation from Italian Deputy Prime Minister Antonio Tajani, shows Kuwait's vital role on the level of global energy security and economic stability, the ambassador said.
Discussions of Sheikh Nawaf Saud, along with Algeria and Bahrain's Ministers of Energy, and head of the major oil group Eni, gave a deep insight into the reality and future of energy security, in light of the repercussions of Ukraine's crisis and from the perspective of the world's tendency towards energy transition and challenges of climate change, he went to say.
The ambassador pointed out that the high-level dialogue on these challenges highlighted Kuwait's successful efforts and oil industry sector to produce environmentally friendly derivatives to keep pace with the requirements of containing climate warming in parallel with preserving the share of oil and its derivatives in the global energy mixture in the coming decades, he elaborated.
Al-Qahtani referred to the ability of KPC and its companies to boost their large growing position and confidence it enjoys in the Italian market to meet its diverse needs of carbohydrate products, in line with the latest standards via the second largest distribution network in Italy, which started importing Kuwait's low-carbon diesel.
On Kuwait's participation in Rome-Med organized by Italy's foreign ministry since 2015, Al-Qahtani said this mirrors keenness on backing all initiatives and paths aiming to enhance stability, peace and cooperation amongst peoples.
The event features 60 leaders, heads of state, prime ministers, ministers, and heads of regional and international multilateral organizations. (end)
