Croatia wins 4-1 to make Canada second team to get eliminated


(MENAFN) Canada were the second team to get out of the World Cup following a defeat with hammering 4-1 loss to Croatia in their Group F game on Sunday.

Alphonso Davies of Canada managed to get his nation’s first-ever World Cup goal with a header in the second minute to break the scoreless tie.

Andrej Kramaric's close-range goal at Khalifa International Stadium in the 36th minute tied the Group F match for Croatia.

Marko Livaja's right-footed shot from the outside of the penalty area gave the Croatians the lead after eight minutes.

In the 70th minute, Kramaric scored for Croatia with a left-footed strike from the middle of the penalty area. In extra time, Lovro Majer of Croatia added another goal, bringing the final score to 4-1.

The second team to be eliminated from the 2022 World Cup was Canada. Following Qatar who had been knocked out after a 3-1 loss to Senegal, on Friday.
