(MENAFN- Saudi Press Agency) Riyadh, October 9, 2022, SPA --King Salman bin Abdulaziz Royal Reserve Development Authority (KSRNR) signed a memorandum of understanding with the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
KSRNR's Chief Executive Officer Abdullah Al-Amer signed it with Regional Director of the West Asia Office of the International Union for Conservation of Nature Dr. Hany El Shaer.
The memorandum reinforces the Authority's plan to implement the best management methods for natural reserves to enable them to land their vision, protect their natural habitats, develop them and establish the reserve towards making it a distinct destination for ecotourism, integrate with their environment, preserve and promote natural and cultural heritage, and contribute to sustainable social and economic development that enhances the protection of natural resources in line with the objectives of Vision 2030.
The MoU also includes technical consultation on international best practices for sustainable and effective conservation management and includes the development of education and capacity-building initiatives on the conservation and sustainable management of natural resources, Invitations to participate in exhibitions and conferences with joint work and the areas of environment, research and training in addition to organizing and hosting joint meetings of international experts, members of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Committee and sharing innovative knowledge and techniques to manage the reserve effectively.
The King Salman bin Abdulaziz Royal Reserve is the fourth largest land reserve in the world and the largest in the Middle East. It covers +130 Km2. The reserve growth expands within four areas: Al-Jawf, Hail, Tabuk, and the Northern Border. It also holds heritage registered by UNESCO in the Jubbah region, which dates back more than eight centuries BC.
