UN: Taliban Should Protect Rights Of All Afghans, Without Discrimination

The UN Secretary-General called the fatal explosion at an education facility in Kabul“heinous,” and he demanded that the Taliban authorities protect the rights of all Afghans without discrimination, regardless of ethnicity and gender.
The UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, expressed concern about the explosion in the Dasht-e-Barchi area of Kabul, in a tweet posted on October 1.
The top UN official has underscored that the Taliban administration must safeguard all Afghan citizens' rights to safe and secure access to education irrespective of their ethnicity or gender.
“Dozens of adolescent girls & boys were killed today in a heinous attack on an educational center in Kabul City,” Guterres said, addressing the incident that occurred on Friday in the west of Kabul.
The bomb attack occurred on Friday morning, September 30, at around seven o'clock, as the mock Kankor entrance exam was going on at the Kaj education center in Kabul's 13th district, a Hazara neighborhood.
According to Abdul Nafi Takor, the spokesperson for the Taliban Ministry of Interior Affairs, 19 were killed and 27 were injured as a result of the attack, while witnesses claim the actual toll to be much higher.
A Kaj educational center employee who wished to remain anonymous for security reasons later confirmed to Voice of America (VOA) that 30 students had died and 35 others had been wounded.
The Khorasan branch of ISIS has previously claimed responsibility for similar attacks that also left civilians dead in this area of Kabul city, despite no individual or group has yet taken responsibility for this explosion.
The majority of people in Dasht Barchi are Shia Muslims and Hazara ethnic minorities, and over the past 20 years, Islamic extremists, including ISIS, have targeted them with deadly attacks.
