Ramallah, June 27 (Petra) -- The Palestinian Foreign Ministry on Monday urged the international community to help implement UN Security Council resolution 2334 that calls for a halt to Jewish settlements and prompt Israel to engage in a real peace process to end the occupation.
The ministry said in a statement that it tracked the occupying state's daily crimes and violations against the people of Palestine at the political, diplomatic and legal levels.
It held the Israeli government fully and directly responsible for the escalation against 'our people and their rights,' urging a serious stance against such dangerous actions that could lead to an explosion as Israel 'closed the political horizon' for a solution to the conflict.
The ministry said the occupying power is exploiting the 'double international standards and failure to implement international legitimacy resolutions on the Palestinian issue to deepen settlements and the gradual annexation of the West Bank with the aim of unilaterally and forcefully deciding final status issues.'
The statement decried the theft of Palestinian land by the occupying state and its various arms, namely pro-settlement agencies, the latest of which was, according to Israeli media, an attempt to register in the names of Jewish people Palestinian land in neighborhoods of occupied East Jerusalem and areas adjacent to Al Aqsa Mosque compound.
Such action, it pointed out, is a flagrant violation of the international law, international legitimacy resolutions and signed agreements.
The Palestinian ministry said that Israeli actions in occupied Jerusalem are part and parcel of its scheme to Judaize Jerusalem, perpetuate its annexation and undermine and eliminate the historical, demographic, and legal Palestinian presence in the Holy City.
It also condemned the escalation in Jewish settler attacks against the Palestinians and their property across the West Bank.
