Doha: A memorandum of mutual understanding between Electronics Recycle Factory and Al-Ahli Hospital was recently signed by sheikh Hamad bin Abdul Aziz Al Thani, chief of the Electronics Recycle Factory, and Khalid Al Emadi, CEO of Al-Ahli Hospital.

The initiative will contribute to achieving sustainable development. Securing the sustainability of economic and social growth is not possible without a comprehensive environmental vision that places at and protection its natural resources by land, sea and air.

Deputy CEO and Director of Projects and MediCare, Jamal Saleh Hammad said:“We have thousands of tonnes of electronic waste. Previously, we have been disposing the harmful waste through government approved channels and other waste companies which collect such waste. This new initiative is unique as it will recycle the waste into raw materials and send to other countries. This will help reduce the e-waste to protect the environment and humans from its harmful effects.”

“Medical Waste and other e-waste has to be treated and disposed properly to avoid possible contamination. Electronics Recycle Factory provides comprehensive medical waste treatment solutions with the latest technology,” he added.

Electronic waste, or e-waste, refers to all electrical and electronic equipment that have been discarded as waste without the intent of re-use.
