In an effort to elevate and champion the culture of collecting and preserving classic and vintage vehicles in the Qatari society, the Gulf Qatari Classic Car Association has announced its partnership with Msheireb Properties in hosting the Al Barahat Classic Car Show, which will take place at Msheireb Downtown Doha (MDD) from tomorrow until April 11. The car show will feature a host of 'resplendently preserved vintage and classic cars that represent various decades'.
The car selection will reflect the choices made by residents of Msheireb in the past, especially during the '60s and '70s, the organisers said in a press statement.
Commenting on the event, HE Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim al-Thani, chairman of the Board of Directors of the Gulf Qatari Classic Car Association, praised the fruitful and successful partnership with Msheireb Properties as well as the efforts exerted in organising the event.
He said:“We are elated to witness the steady and rapid development and elevation of the Al Barahat Classic Car Show.”
“It has surely become an invaluable asset in the arsenal of the cultural sector in our country, and it needs to be supported and preserved, so that it can continue to thrive and expand, both locally and internationally,” he said.“We are extremely confident that this upcoming edition of Al Barahat Classic Car Show will witness a tremendous turnout, especially as it's taking place during the holy month of Ramadan.”
Omar Hussain Alfardan, vice-president of the Gulf Qatari Classic Car Association, stressed the importance of organising the Al Barahat Classic Car Show – which gained additional momentum in its last edition – at the MDD.
“The Al Barahat classic car exhibition offers classic car collectors an incredible platform to showcase their prized possessions to the public,” he said.“It represents an incubator for the owners of classic cars to display their cars to the public, and provides the public with the optimum opportunity to revel in the beauty of these one-of-a-kind, classic vehicles.'
Alfardan praised Msheireb Properties for providing the association with all the necessary facilities in organising and hosting the event, in line with the association's high standards.
He also highlighted the role the classic car show plays in attracting vintage car connoisseurs from across the globe, in addition to educating the public about the long-lasting tradition of collecting vintage cars, the importance of preserving that tradition, and allowing these shows to be organised annually.
The Al Barahat classic car exhibition aims to introduce the Gulf Qatari Classic Car Association to the public and highlight its role as a sponsor and supporter of vintage car collectors, while also highlighting the private sector's role in supporting the country's tourism by organising this event annually, which has become a destination that attracts enthusiasts internationally and locally as well, the statement notes.
A host of activities will take place at Msheireb Downtown Doha as part of the event.
Msheireb Properties chief executive Nasser Matar al-Kuwari expressed the need for national companies to sponsor vital events organised in the country.
“The Al Barahat Classic Car Show is considered one of the most anticipated events to take place this year, and we expect its turnout to be tremendous, due to it taking place during Ramadan,” he said.“It has truly become successful in becoming all lovers of the past and it's invaluable treasures.”
Al-Kuwari highlighted the location of Msheireb Downtown Doha, a landmark that represents the perfect“marriage” between the country's heritage and the modernity it boasts of, and noted that Msheireb Properties constantly seeks to support the interests of the public by hosting major, vital events at the MDD.
