Ukraine works towards removing Russia from IAEA key positions due to nuclear terrorism

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) Ukraine and its partners work towards removing Russia from the IAEA, or at least from the IAEA Secretariat key positions due to Russia's nuclear terrorism policy.

'Ukraine and our partners currently work towards removing Russia from the IAEA, or at least reducing its role there and removing all Russians from the key positions they hold in the Secretariat of the International Atomic Energy Agency,' Lana Zerkal, Adviser to the Minister of Energy of Ukraine, ex-deputy foreign minister, said in an interview with Radio NV.

She added that the indisputable reason for this is the nuclear terrorism policy pursued by the Russians, seizing Ukrainian nuclear power plants.

As reported, the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant was captured by Russian troops on the first day of the aggression – February 24.

At the end of the day on Sunday, March 20, the staff of the Chornobyl NPP was partially rotated and people who were in the plant's territory temporarily seized by Russian troops were evacuated.

Russian troops captured the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant on the night of March 4. On March 15, Petro Kotin, Head of National Nuclear Energy Generating Company of Ukraine“Energoatom”, said that there were between 500 and 900 invaders at the Zaporizhzhia NPP.
