Asian financial markets close Friday’s session in red zone


(MENAFN) On Friday, the leading Asian financial markets closed with many declines, as worries about Russia's conflict on Ukraine escalated.

At 1000GMT, the Asia Dow, which comprises blue-chip businesses from the area, dropped by 1.80 percent, or 64.51 points, to end at 3,518.10 points.

The NIKKEI 225 index in Tokyo plunged by 2.23 percent, or 591.8 points, to settle at 25,985.5 points by the end of the session.

The Shanghai stock exchange in China fell by 0.96 percent, or 33.46 points, to end at 3,447.

Sensex, the Indian benchmark, sank by 1.40 percent, or 768.9 points, to end at 54,334 points, whereas the Singapore index decreased by 0.83 percent, or 26.9 points, to close the day at 3,226 points.
