Deputy Prime Minister of the Taliban Mullah Abul Ghani Baradar has asked the US to unfreeze the funds of Afghanistan as the money belongs to the people of the country not to any person or government.
Speaking at an exhibition of Afghanistan's internal products in Kabul, this prominent Taliban figure said that it is all for the US that millions of people are now suffering from the dire economic and humanitarian crisis.
Baradar said that if the Taliban fulfill all the conditions of the International Community, the world would still be unconvinced.
“We ask the US to behave with Afghanistan as an independent and free country as they do with other countries of the world.” Said Baradar.
About the recognition of the Taliban, the Deputy PM said that International Community is seeking their own interests and that the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan is committed to national interests.
This comes as the US has recently denied the release of money as the country is not sure whether the money will go to the people of Afghanistan or the Taliban.
The White House has also acknowledged that the families of the victims of 9/11 have also pleaded the money to be given to them which is important and that the Taliban is still recognized as terror group by the US.
