Bustling vessel ports promote start of new year China's brisk international commerce

(MENAFN) Despite turbulence from the coronavirus epidemic and container shortfalls, China's container shipping industry grew steadily in 2021, demonstrating the nation's strong international commerce and economic strength.

In the January-October period of 2021, shipment bandwidth at China's ports amounted to 12.87 billion tons, reaching 7.8 percent year over year. Shipment throughput increased by 8.4 percent year over year to 235 million twenty-foot units produced (TEUs) throughout the timeframe.

China's international commerce increased 22 percent year over year to about USD5.56 trillion in the first 11 months, according to customs figures, as national ports were clogged with containers.
