Moderna predicts fresh Omicron vaccine to be available next year

(MENAFN) Moderna Inc. Chief Medical Officer Paul Burton reported, he believes the fresh strain might eliminate the effectiveness of present vaccines, as preparations are made for a reformulated jab at the start of 2022.

On Sunday, Nov. 28 Burton on the BBC’s "Andrew Marr Show” mentioned, “We should know about the ability of the current vaccine to provide protection in the next couple of weeks.”

He reported, “If we have to make a brand new vaccine, I think that’s going to be early 2022 before that’s really going to be available in large quantities,” adding “the remarkable thing about the mRNA vaccines, the Moderna platform, is that we can move very fast.”
