QC lauds Amir's keenness for developing private sector


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Doha: Qatar Chamber (QC) Chairman sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani has lauded the speech of Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani at the opening of 50th annual session of the Shura Council.

He said that speech highlighted the achievements made in recent years. Sheikh Khalifa pointed out that the new council is one of the fruits of this successful Democratic experiment by all standards, which the whole world witnessed.

He said that the speech touched on the successes and achievements of the State during the past period, in addition to future prospects and future goals in light of the third national strategy within the Qatar National Vision 2030.

From an economic point of view, Sheikh Khalifa noted that H H the Amir spoke about the progress made by the State in terms of economic diversification, the extent of the private sector's participation in major projects and its competitive capabilities outside the country.

He said that H H the Amir always refers in his speeches to the private sector and its role in economic activity, which confirms the interest and keenness of His Highness to develop the private sector and enhance the role it plays in the economic development process of the country.

Sheikh Khalifa said that Qatari private sector appreciates this care and support from the wise leadership, and always seeks to develop itself to be the locomotive of economic growth and a real contributor to the process of economic development.

Director-General of Qatar Chamber, Saleh bin Hamad Al Sharqi has said that speech of H H the Amir was comprehensive and covered all sectors, describing it a road map for economic development.

He said that the speech emphasised the role of legislative amendments in achieving economic growth in the country, facilitating commercial transactions, enhancing competition, protecting consumers, encouraging industrial investment, and increasing foreign direct investment by allowing foreign investors to own 100% of the capital of some companies, and supporting competitiveness of national products.

Al Sharqi pointed out that these things contributed to diversifying the Qatari economy and reflected positively on the performance of the private sector and its increasing role in the process of economic development.

Al Sharqi also noted that His Highness's speech touched on the country's success in the field of food security and the achievement of high rates of self-sufficiency in many food commodities thanks to the support of the State.
