InterContinental Doha gives back in IHG's 'Giving For Good' month

Doha: InterContinental Doha dedicated the whole month of September to giving back and giving thanks, joining thousands of IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group) colleagues around the globe doing good through gestures big and small, as teams, or making a difference close to home.
As part of the hotel's efforts to give back to the community, a series of events were carried out for colleagues to participate in. A donation drive was held where colleagues were encouraged to donate goods to communities in need; a blood donation drive was also organized in cooperation with Hamad Medical Corporation where colleagues were encouraged to participate.
InterContinental Doha also hosted the Travelling Teal Ribbon, an initiative by The Teal Society, displaying the ribbon in the lobby for several days in order to raise awareness in the community about the symptoms and risks of different gynecological cancers. Other activities include colleagues participating in numerous fund-raising activities that not only were a lot of fun but helped to give back to the community, and visiting local pet shelter 2nd Chance Rescue Qatar to spend the day with the sheltered pets.

Our colleagues have many causes close to their hearts, and Giving for Good has empowered them to actively participate in ways to give back and make a positive difference on both a local and global scale,” said Dorien Smit, Area Director of Sales and Marketing - Qatar, Oman and Kuwait.
Since its launch in 2018, Giving for Good month has seen IHG colleagues globally provide more than 300,000 acts of kindness in our communities around the world. The impact of COVID-19 meant that we were unable to stage our traditional Giving for Good month of action during 2020. However, we did things a little differently by hosting our first-ever Giving for Good Awards, which celebrated the efforts of more than 28,000 colleagues across the globe.
