Admin Launches Special Cleanliness Drive Across Srinagar

SRINAGAR- In connection with ongoing Swachhta Pakhwada under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan being observed on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, the District Administration Srinagar launched a special cleanliness drives in all government offices and at the Panchayat level.

The drive has been launched on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad which shall continue till October15.

During the 15-day long clean run, various Government Buildings, Office, Play grounds, Parks, Panchayat Ghars health & Educational Institutions and other public places are being cleaned. Besides, garbage and debris will also be removed from the sides of various roads. While general public is also given awareness about the importance of cleanliness.

Some areas in Srinagar Panchayats have been identified and are being cleaned with the active participation of Rural Development Department and local volunteers. Besides, members of DDC, BDC , Panchs and Sarpanchs are also participating in cleanliness drives at various blocks and Panchayats.

On today, cleanliness drive was held in various Government Offices including the office of District Programme Office ICDS, District Employment & Counselling Centre Rajbagh, DSHO office Complex Nowshera, Small Ruminant Hospital Lal Mandi , Joint Directorate Extension Office , Sheep Husbandry offices at Nishat, Anchar and Zakura, Chief Agriculture Office Lal Mandi and its subordinate offices in the district.

The cleanliness drive was also held at right side of River Jhelum from Zero bridge to Jhelum view park.

On the occasion, the Government employees whole heartedly participated in the programme with full enthusiasm and endorsed the Swachhta Mission under Swachhta Abhiyan.

Appreciating the efforts made by the participants in Swacch Bharat Abhiyan to make Srinagar a clean district under ongoing Swachhta Pakhwada, the Deputy Commissioner Srinagar has urged the Officers/ Officials of all Government departments to ensure cleanliness in their respective office buildings, premises and surrounding so that surrounding environment is made neat and clean.

Justice Magrey launches Cleanliness drive in Dal Lake

Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey, Judge High Court of Jammu and Kashmir & Ladakh ton Monday launched a cleanliness drive/ campaign in Dal Lake, Srinagar.

The drive/ campaign was organised by District Legal Services Authority Srinagar in collaboration with J & K Lakes & Waterways Development Authority.

The other Officers present on the Occasion were VC LAWDA Mr. Bashir Ahmad Bhat, Secretary District Legal Services Authority Mr. Noor Mohammad Mir, and Volunteers of DLSA Sgr & volunteers from other sections of the society.

Administering the Swachhta Pledge, Justice Magrey, who is also Executive Chairman Jammu & Kashmir Legal Services Authority interacted with the Volunteers and other Officers present on the occasion and discussed the importance of preserving the water bodies in J & K, in India and world for a sustainable future.

Speaking on the occasion Justice Magrey said that“ The combination of climate change and population growth has lead to a global water crisis and as our population is increasing the burden on our water resources and increasing the capacity to dispose off the waste waters is increasingly compromised & thus the onus lies on the Civil Society for accepting the challenge of water preservation, mitigating the water crisis & to provide a cleaner and safer environment to our next generations”.

The other Officers present on the Occasion were VC LAWDA Mr. Bashir Ahmad Bhat, Secretary District Legal Services Authority Mr. Noor Mohammad Mir, Secretary LAWDA Mr. Ilyas Ahmed was also present along with other officers of LAWDA and Volunteers of DLSA Sgr & volunteers from other sections of the society.

The day-long initiative was concluded by Noor Mohammad Mir Secretary DLSA Srinagar by thanking all the volunteers who participated in this noble cause.
