Suicide car bombing kills several people in Somalia


(MENAFN) According to police, several people lost their lives in Somalia's capital following a suicide car bombing that targeted a security checkpoint near the presidential palace.

Anadolu Agency quoted a police officer in Mogadishu, Abdi Hassan Mohamed as saying that "There are multiple casualties from the attack but we don't know exactly how many people have been killed or wounded."

In addition, Anadolu Agency quoted Minivan driver and eyewitness Guuled Ibrahim as saying that he had seen a number of people killed in the attack.

Ibrahim further declared that "The explosion was huge. After the blast occurred, there was gunfire. Minutes later, we rushed to the scene and it was horrific, with a lot of confusion."
